WearWorks

iOS, Mobile App, Firmware

A product of Mini’s Urban-X accelerator, the Wayband is a haptic device designed to help visually impaired users navigate. Users input a desired destination via voice prompts and vibrations provided via the armband tell the user which direction to turn, when they’ve strayed from the correct path and when they’ve arrived at their destination.

The WearWorks team approached Tanooki Labs to help develop the firmware and software to operate the navigation system as well as control the haptic motors on the Wayband. Working streets of NYC allowed us to hone the location services used by the mobile app and firmware to that the WearWorks device can work in even the most crowded metropolis.
