Target100

Design, Sprint Zero, Web, Mobile

Liz Josefsberg was no stranger to diet programs. In fact, she had spent most of her teens and early adult years trying one diet after another, though it was only after abandoning the fad diets and finding what worked for her that she was finally able to get healthy and lose weight for good.

She took that experience and made it her life’s work, becoming the Director of Brand Advocacy for Weight Watchers and later branching out as an acclaimed healthcare consultant, author, and weight-loss expert for celebrities including Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Hudson, Charles Barkley, and more. Her best-selling book, Target 100, launched a holistic, whole-health program and we were excited to partner with her to take this concept online and create a streamlined, accessible, and easy-to-use website, app, and interactive platform: Target100.

We started with a Sprint Zero, helping Liz and the Target100 team translate her inspirational book into fully functioning web and mobile apps. Designing with the user in mind, we created a robust, yet simple to use, application that avoids many of the complicated pitfalls of other health and wellness applications. Tracking your food consumption is easy and intuitive through our partner API integrations. Steps and other activity is automatically compiled from Fitbit and easily added or updated right in the app.

The result is a single destination to manage your entire healthcare journey. When a new user signs up, they receive a starter box, which includes a Fitbit, a Bluetooth-connected scale, a smart water bottle (that tracks in real-time how much water is consumed, and provides reminders via phone notifications and bottle glow alerts as a gentle nudge to drink more water), and the Target 100 book. Now here’s why this is more than just a fancy starter box: all of these products and applications provide data directly into the Target100 platform and give each participant an individualized, real-time view of their health.

The platform also serves as a food and exercise journal, so users will document what they are eating & drinking, and can easily look up recipes and nutrition information for food and beverages. Easy, (snap)peasy.

But wait…there’s more! Studies have shown that community and individual, mentor-based support are two of the most important parts of any healthcare journey, so participants can select and engage with online courses directly within the app. They can also work directly with other Target 100 members & coaches and share inspiration, get motivation from others within the community, and more.

Currently, the Target100 platform is still in a private beta, which has allowed Liz & team to adjust, refine and improve the experience, even as hundreds of users are interacting with it every day. Eager to put this powerful portal in the hands of their community, it was important to the team that they work with Tanooki to build out the data integration elements to provide actionable insights immediately.

We’re excited for the full, public roll-out, when soon even more people will be able to take advantage of this powerful platform.  We’ll let you know when it’s live, and keep an eye on Target100.net to sign up for their informative newsletter and to learn more.
